Director, Data Governance & Analytics

The College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) regulates the nursing profession in Alberta in the public interest, ensuring Albertans receive safe, competent and ethical nursing care through licensure, professional practice standards and regulatory oversight. The Opportunity

The CRNA is seeking a strategic and collaborative Director, Data Governance & Analytics to develop and evolve the organization's data governance, analytics, business intelligence and regulatory reporting capabilities.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative & Financial Officer, this role champions the use of data across the enterprise, ensuring analytics, performance measurement, and integrated reporting are aligned with organizational priorities, regulatory obligations, and operational realities. The Director will build consensus and ensure insights and reporting frameworks are co-developed with, and owned across, the organization. Central to this role is building a collective capacity to understand, question and use data well at every level.

This is an opportunity to build upon a strong foundation while helping shape the next phase of the CRNA's analytics journey. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with leaders and teams across the organization to strengthen data governance, improve reporting and performance measurement, and transform data into meaningful insights that support the CRNA's mandate of protecting the public through nursing regulation.

The CRNA’s Technology & Analytics Environment

The Director will play a key role in shaping the future direction of the platform and supporting the organization's growing analytics maturity. Key components include:

  • Microsoft Azure cloud platform
  • Microsoft Power BI as the primary reporting and visualization tool
  • SQL-based data architecture and reporting environment
  • Enterprise data governance and data quality initiatives
  • Ongoing development of a business intelligence environment focused on scalability and self-service reporting
  • Expansion of dimensional modeling and star-schema design to support enterprise reporting and advanced analytics
  • Growing the use of AI-assisted features to support reporting, forecasting and data exploration
